Objective
To contribute to good governance and the rule of law as a basis for equitable and inclusive growth and development in Lao PDR.
Specific objectives
The role and capacity of Lao Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has been strengthened to promote and protect the rights of Lao citizens through policy dialogue and accountability processes at local and national level.
The capacity of the People’s Provincial Assemblies (PPAs) to perform oversight of government agencies, programmes, activities, policies and laws implemented at constituency level has been enhanced.
Project period
4.5 years (54 months) from July 2017 to December 2021
Target Outcomes
1: CSOs have improved capacity to empower Lao citizens (constituents) and to facilitate dialogue with PPA Members (representatives);
2: PPA Members have capacity to engage and represent Lao citizens and respond to Lao CSO concerns;
3: PPA Members have technical capacity to inform government policy and practice;
4: PPA Members have improved interaction with constituents through grassroots initiatives and volunteering.
Project partners
Oxfam in Laos partners with:
- People’s Provincial Assemblies (PPAs) under the National Assembly (NA)
- Huam Jai Asasamak (HJA), Lao Non-Profit Association (NPA) that works with CSOs and youth organisations from 6 provinces: Bokeo, Khammuane, Savannakhet, Xiengkhuang, Saravane and Vientiane Province.
